The Justice of God. Totally unsafe for us on our own. But behind the blood of Jesus we are saved. Like the first Passover in Egypt, the blood of the lamb must be displayed on our doorposts. We must hold high the cross of Jesus, no matter how it looks or makes us look. I might be wrong but I don't think spreading lamb's blood on the outside of your door for all to see was a common practice for anyone in Egypt at the time. It was probably pretty weird. Yet, the Israelites believed and obeyed God anyway and it turned out to be their salvation. Noah built an ark on dry land before it had ever rained. It was the salvation of him and all humanity. In the face of what felt like complete loss and abandonment, Job praised the Lord in faithful obedience. It was his salvation. Our refuge AND strength IS the Lord God. He is the arbiter of Justice. Get as close to Him as you can. Lift high the Cross of Jesus.
What does it mean to lift high the Cross? Some of us witness someone literally do it during our church services on Sundays but for us laymen this is a spiritual and mental process. It’s the new script our minds must be running in the background at all times. The renewal of our spirits and the transformation of our minds happens when we allow Him to do it. We can’t hope to make up for what separates us from Him. We can't just work it out and successfully resurrect what God intended us to be without God Himself. David says in Psalm 51 that he would give a sacrifice to atone from his sin if there was one. But no, there isn’t. We need to shut up. Shut up our hearts, our minds, our worries, our pain. It is Him that creates in us a new heart and renews a right spirit within us.
A lot of us are carrying betrayal and abandonment; guilt and unforgiveness are also BIG ones that burden people, not withholding Christians. Each of those lies kill because they separate us from our Father, from our real life that is hidden in Christ. Our resurrection requires quieting ourselves in prayer and meditation and putting on the mind of Christ and hosting the Holy Spirit.
The Justice of God was completed on the Cross. We are no longer bound by shame and guilt and fear if we believe. When I allow my thoughts to be consumed by any of those three devils, I'm hopeless to hear from God. When I begin my day with the cross of Christ firmly fixed on the front of my forehead the voices of fear, guilt, and shame all fade away. Light drives out darkness. His blood is our salvation. In the face of your worries, give time to the Lord. Remember the cross. His Justice is totally executed.
