Really good reminder from Tozer today. This is something the Lord has illuminated in me over the last few years. Every part of man is fallen in every way. Separation from God is the most traumatic event everyone has ever gone through. And we are still living in it! It started at birth when you opened your eyes for the first time to a fallen world. We all have that voice inside of us saying, that’s not right, not fair, not good, etc. We may not agree on what the world should be like but we all agree that what we have now isn't it. Things are not right. Can we honestly say that our claims and judgements are exempt from this condition?
“I don't know,” is how we come to the Lord like a little child. No preconceptions. No prejudices. No conditions. So many kids ask, why? The wonder of it all is so evident in the eyes of a child. I used to love nature walks at camp when I was little. There were just so many things to look at that I didn’t understand! Kids have no shame or fear in facing the unknown and asking for answers. We should be like that towards God. But it's hard for us. After our shared traumatic experience of birth, we adjusted to the world we live in. Of course we did, and we continue to be conformed to the world. We downloaded default mind scripts from the cultures in which we are nurtured and they get reinforced through our daily shared experiences. We all cope together. We are all co-dependent trying to avoid the real, humble question, why?
We won't find the answer in anything the world can offer us. The answers the world throws at us are distractions from what is True. We aren't going to find the answer even within ourselves. We can't answer it on our own. We have to turn to a big, scary Good God as a child and ask Him. He made everything, He has been given authority over all things, and He is making all things new. Praise God, we are not exempt from that. Our perspective, our thinking, our decisions are wielded by the Lord Jesus to make things Good and Right. We will have Peace within the suffering of all the world if we yield authority to the One who purchased it. You will find friendship with God when you really get to know Him; when you agree to work with Him in making you new. When we trust Him with everything as Lord over all He makes us Right. He is the only one with authority to answer us when we ask, Why?
My wife Alysha and I host a podcast called Disrupt the Comfort. In it we discuss what the Lord has been teaching us and how the Lord is moving us out of darkness into light. Look us up on YouTube or Spotify.
